Between the storms and the rainiest summer on record and Covid 19, I was unwilling to travel to SE Alaska this summer and my creative spirit seemed non existent.
A call for artists became available for Alaska artists for the Alaska Biennial 2020 exhibition at the Anchorage Museum so I decided to apply and was accepted!! (see my event page). This was a definite boost.
Missing boating terribly, I have found myself reminiscing about my days spent on the water commercial salmon fishing, be it either trolling off Cape Chacon or cruising along slowly in quiet bays teaming with "Elwanai" or gill-netting from Tree Point in SE Alaska all the way to Haines in Lynn Canal.
I finally was able to get to the ocean, alone, watching with a meditative mind, did some hiking in the mountains as well. Nature does wonders for the soul.
Newly consumed with an urgency to paint, I have been working on a series of fish.
Here is a picture of the detail in one - stay tuned for more!
