Golden Skies, Restless Seas

As I painted this piece, I kept thinking about that moment when a wave breaks — the split second when the water lifts, folds, and releases its power. I remembered the feeling of the ocean heaving under our boat, lifting and dropping as we made our way toward port. Above it all, the sky glowed in deep amber, crimson, and gold, warming the scene even as the water churned below.

For me, it’s simply a tribute to the wildness of open water. The movement, the texture, the light — all the things I love about the ocean. I can imagine it living anywhere someone wants that sense of motion and energy in their space, but mostly I just wanted the ocean to speak for itself.
